Funds in Court vacancy for Judicial Registrar

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Honourable Marilyn Warren AC, seeks expressions of interest from qualified persons for appointment as a Judicial Registrar of the Supreme Court.
Judicial Registrars are appointed by the Governor in Council on the recommendation of the Attorney-General. The position requires a legally qualified (admitted for not less than 5 years), highly motivated leader with extensive experience, and a demonstrated understanding of court processes. It also requires superior communication skills and the ability to make timely decisions according to law.
The appointee will be assigned to Funds in Court and will undertake duties across the Court more broadly including hearing and determining interlocutory civil applications, conducting judicial mediations and acting for other specialist Judicial Registrars during leave periods.
The Associate Judge who is the Senior Master administers the funds of over 5,000 beneficiaries most of whom are minors or adults unable to manage their financial affairs due to a disability. The funds are largely amounts paid into court as a result of an award of compensation by a Victorian Court or Tribunal. The Senior Master is assisted by the Judicial Registrar in Funds in Court and a dedicated group of administrative staff. The Judicial Registrar considers a large number of applications for payments out of the funds held for beneficiaries for their day to day needs. Experience dealing with vulnerable individuals with a disability will be highly regarded.
The position is located in Melbourne.
