Media Releases
The Supreme Court of Victoria issues Media Releases which are made available to the press and media through the Courts' Information Officer.
The Courts' Information Officer routinely advises members of the media on issues relating to Court reporting, including suppression orders, Judges' sentencing remarks and the like and seeking a Judge's approval to use small tape recorders in Court.
The Courts' Information Officer periodically conducts seminars for journalists on the pitfalls of Court reporting. These cover contempt of Court issues, the special considerations relating to jury trials and the various statutory limits on reporting.
