Criminal Division
This List manages all criminal matters that are "committed to" (that is, sent for trial in) the Supreme Court of Victoria. Committal hearings take place in the Magistrates' Court. At the end of the committal hearing, provided the accused is committed, when a Plea of Not Guilty or Reserved is entered, the accused is Remanded or Bailed to a Directions Hearing date. If the accused enters a Plea of Guilty, a plea date is set in consultation with the parties.

Case Conferences
Generally, case conferences are heard a week prior to the Directions Hearing date and are conducted by the Supreme Court Criminal Coordinator at CTLD (See below). Representatives from the Prosecution and Defence are required to attend. The prime purpose is to set a proposed Trial/Plea date for hearing in the Supreme Court upon the replies of the parties to various questions and to discuss any other issues that a party may wish to raise at the conference.
