Divorce

Prior to 1976, the Supreme Court had jurisdiction in divorce proceedings. After the introduction of the Family Law Act, this jurisdiction was vested with the Family Court.

Divorces after 1976

Any enquiries about divorces after 1976 should be directed to the Family Court on (03) 8600 3763.

Divorces prior to 1976

To obtain a copy of Divorce Information (prior to 1976) the following is required:

• A completed "Application for a copy of Divorce Information";
• A sworn Affidavit;
• A cheque, money order or bank draft for the prescribed fee made payable to the Supreme Court of Victoria.  Print your name, phone number and address at the back of the cheque, money order or bank draft.  The Supreme Court does not accept credit card payments;
• Prescribed Fee - is the Searching a Court File Fee listed under Prothonotary's Office Fees
