A class action on behalf of persons suffering injury, damage or loss as a result of the St Patrick's Day fires that prompted evacuations across south-west Victoria.
The claim is against electricity supplier Powercor and alleges that a falling tree caused an electrical discharge from a power line, which ignited grass at Naroghid, Victoria.
Settlement approval application
The parties have applied to the Court for approval of the settlement of the class action. Further information is available in the Settlement Approval Notice below.
Group members may object to the settlement by providing a notice of objection to the plaintiff 's solicitors by 4.00pm on 21 June 2019.
The application for settlement approval will be heard by the Honourable Justice Forbes at 2.15pm on 29 July 2019.
The Supreme Court daily list should be referred to from 4pm the day prior to confirm hearing times and courtroom venues.
