*Criminal matters in the Supreme Court are managed by the Victorian Government Reporting Service. Parties to a Supreme Court criminal trial will receive transcript as a matter of course at the direction of a judicial officer. For other proceedings, a party to the matter may request transcript or the audio from a criminal matter by contacting the judicial officer and/or VGRS.

Where can I book a transcript service?

All matters commencing from 1 July 2021 must be directed to the new service providers, even if bookings have been made in advance with the previous service provider.

What if I have booked in advance with a service provider?

Any bookings that have been made in advance with a previous service provider, such as Auscript, will need to be rebooked with the new service provider. It is the responsibilities of the parties to ensure bookings have moved to the new service provider.

What if the matter is running during the transition phase?

If a matter is running during the transition phase, which is 1 June to 1 July, the original transcript provider may be retained. Notice of this arrangement must be made to the Court by email to the judicial officer.

Which trials require running transcript?

All trials in the Supreme Court require running transcript, which is a transcript that runs throughout the day and is delivered on the same day. Orders for running transcript must be placed before 9am on the day of the hearing .

Where can I find information on List requirements?

For guidance on transcript requirements in Lists, refer to the relevant Practice Note. Alternatively, questions relating to the Court’s requirement for the provision of transcript can be put in an email addressed to the chambers of the judge managing the matter. Contact details can be found on the Judicial Support Contacts page

Is there a fee for transcript services?

Fees apply to orders for transcripts. Information about fees is available from the service providers.
