This is a group proceeding (class action) brought on behalf of consumers who purchased goods with a ‘Product Care’ extended warranty from Harvey Norman (and Domayne or Joyce Mayne) between 18 September 2018 and 19 September 2024.

The class action alleges that the Product Care extended warranty provided little or no value to consumers as they were already guaranteed the same or greater rights under the Australian Consumer Law. It also alleges that Product Care was sold illegally, as it is claimed Harvey Norman, Domayne and Joyce Mayne sold it without an Australian Financial Services Licence, as required by law.

This class action is a consolidated proceeding. The second plaintiff, Constantinos Daglas, initially issued a separate proceeding against the same defendants in the Federal Court. That proceeding was subsequently transferred to the Supreme Court and the proceedings were consolidated by order of the Honourable Justice Harris on 29 May 2025.
