Announcement of Senior Counsel for Victoria 2025

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Honourable Richard Niall, today announced the appointment of 21 new Senior Counsel:

The 2025 Silks were chosen from 94 applicants (65 men and 29 women) after a thorough consultation with the Victorian Bar, the Legal Services Commissioner, the judiciary and the broader profession.
“I’d like to extend my sincere congratulations to each one of our newly appointed Silks,” the Chief Justice said.
“The title of Senior Counsel is a reflection of your integrity, standing within the legal profession, and many years of exceptional service.
“I know I speak on behalf of myself and the wider profession when I say we expect you will continue to advance the administration of justice across the state and Australia through your advocacy and advice.
“Each one of you have made incredible contributions across diverse areas of practice. You have benefited from collegial assistance and experience throughout your time in the profession and now the responsibility falls to you to lead and mentor others,” the Chief Justice said.
There will be a ceremonial sitting in the Banco Court on Monday, 24 November 2025 at 9.15am, to mark the occasion. The ceremony will be livestreamed and available to view thereafter on the Court’s website.
