The Court’s operating hours over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Operating hours

The Court’s last sitting date for this year is Friday, 20 December 2019

Sittings will commence again on Tuesday, 28 January 2020.

During the Christmas and New Year period, the Court will be closed on the following public holidays:

  • Wednesday 25 December 2019
  • Thursday 26 December 2019
  • Wednesday 1 January 2020 

All Registries will continue to operate during the Christmas/New Year period.

Electronic filing will be available at all times.

Services supporting urgent matters and applications will continue as usual.

The Law Library of Victoria will be closed from the 27- 31 December (inclusive), reopening on 2 January 2020.

Closure of public entrances

From 23 December 2019 to 10 January 2020, a number of public entrances will be closed:

  • 450 Little Bourke Street (old High Court building), 485 Lonsdale Street (Trial Division) and 459 Lonsdale Street (Court of Appeal) will be closed from 23 December 2019 to 10 January 2020 (both dates inclusive). These entrances will reopen on Monday, 13 January 2020.
  • The 210 William Street entrance (Trial Division) will be closed on 27, 30 and 31 December 2019. 

The public entrance at 436 Lonsdale Street will remain open on all business days throughout the holiday period. During this time, the Principal Registry and Court of Appeal Registry will remain open for all in-person enquiries.

Due to the public entrance closures, from 23 December 2019 to 10 January 2020 any in-person enquiries for the Commercial Court Registry should be made at the Principal Registry at Level 2, 436 Lonsdale Street.
