Her Honour Judge Andrea Tsalamandris has today been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Her Honour joins the Common Law Division, bringing almost 30 years of experience as a County Court judge and a legal practitioner.

Judge Andrea TsalamandrisWhile serving at the County Court from 2016 to 2022, Justice Tsalamandris was head of the Common Law Division, joint judge in charge of the Medical List and judge responsible for the approval of solicitor client cost orders. Her Honour was also a member of the management board, chair of the IT committee and deputy president of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Prior to this, Justice Tsalamandris practised as a solicitor, accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a specialist in personal injury law. Her Honour was named as Lawyer of the Year in the areas of personal injury litigation and medical negligence for Melbourne between 2014 and 2016.

As a committed advocate for social justice, Justice Tsalamandris acted on a pro-bono basis on the Stolen Generations litigation, for which her Honour received the Civil Justice Award from the Australian Plaintiff Lawyers Alliance and the Law Foundation Award. Her Honour also served as a Relationship Partner with the Castan Centre for Human Rights Law.

The Court warmly congratulates Justice Tsalamandris on her appointment, which takes effect today.
