New appointments to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
The Court warmly welcomes the appointment of Justice Lisa Nichols to the Court of Appeal and Megan O’Sullivan KC as a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Both appointments are effective 29 September 2026.
Justice Nichols was appointed to the Commercial Court in 2019 after an almost 30-year legal career where she acted in the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry, Bushfires Royal Commission, and Victorian Mental Health Royal Commission.
Her Honour was a leader in class action law and was appointed silk in 2017.
Justice O’Sullivan will replace Justice Nichols in the Commercial Court.
Her Honour brings significant experience from 20 years at the Bar in the areas of commercial and common law, property, equity and trusts, insurance law, and torts.
A former Vice President of the Commercial Bar Association, Justice O’Sullivan has also served on the Bar’s Pro-Bono Committee, has an Honours degree in Philosophy, and won the World University Debating Championships while studying at Monash.
