Judicial Registrar Fiona Steffensen has today been appointed as an associate judge in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Associate Justice Steffensen will also hold the role of Senior Master of Funds in Court, following the retirement of Associate Justice Efthim.

Her Honour brings over 19 years of experience in commercial law as a judicial officer and legal practitioner.

Associate Justice SteffensenPrior to joining the Commercial Court in December 2020 as a judicial registrar, Associate Justice Steffensen was a principal at boutique litigation firm, Lipman Karas, for nine years. Her practice focused on large cross-border commercial and insolvency disputes in Australia and Hong Kong, including some of the largest and most complex disputes in this area in both jurisdictions.

Her Honour also practised for nine years as a solicitor and then partner at Kelly & Co in commercial litigation and insolvency after completing her studies in law and science at the University of Adelaide.

The Court warmly congratulates Associate Justice Steffensen on her appointment, which takes effect today.
