His Honour Judge Edward (Ted) Woodward has been appointed as a Justice of the Supreme Court.

Judge Edward (Ted) Woodward has been appointed as a justice of the Supreme Court, commencing 5 June 2023.

From 1 July 2023 his Honour will serve as President of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal for a five-year term.

Prior to joining the Court, his Honour served as a judge of the County Court of Victoria from 2017, where he sat as the head of the Commercial Division from 2020. His Honour is a specialist in commercial law following more than 20 years as a barrister practising in general commercial litigation.

Judge Woodward’s career is also distinguished for his contribution to ethical improvements in the justice system. He served on the Victorian Bar Council and Ethics Committee and notably as lead counsel assisting the first Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) in 2014.
