Three judicial appointments to the Supreme Court of Victoria were announced today.
Judge Michael Glennon O’Connell, a judge of the County Court of Victoria, and Ms Diana Inara Piekusis KC have been appointed to the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court.
Judge Peter Richard Fary, a judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2), has been appointed as an Associate Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
All appointments commence today.
Judge O’Connell was first admitted to practice in 1987. Upon his appointment to the County Court in 2017, Judge O’Connell sat in the Criminal Division, and was a member of the Court’s Media Committee and the Judicial College’s Criminal Charge Book Committee.
Ms Piekusis KC was first admitted to practice in 1998, and signed the Victorian Bar Roll in 2003, followed by the High Court Roll in 2009. Appointed Senior Counsel in 2018, she became Chief Crown Prosecutor in 2024.
Judge Fary was admitted to practice in 1994, and signed the Victorian Bar Roll in 2001. His Honour was appointed as a Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) in 2025, where he oversaw matters related to administrative law and judicial review, employment law and bankruptcy.
