Justice Forbes joins the Supreme Court Bench.

Highly respected barrister, Jacinta Forbes QC, was officially welcomed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria by the profession earlier this morning at a ceremony held in the Banco courtroom at the Court.

Justice Forbes joined the Victorian Bar in 2000 and was appointed Queens Counsel in 2014. Her Honour has extensive experience and specialisation in the areas of professional negligence, personal injury, product liability and general common law matters.

During her time as a solicitor, Justice Forbes was involved in major litigation projects, including representing Australian women in product liability claims against US-based silicone breast implant manufacturers.

Justice Forbes also has experience in native title litigation, having represented claimants in West Kimberley before the Native Title Tribunal in its early years.

Her Honour is widely recognised for her significant contribution to pro bono work in a range of fields, including medical evacuations.

She replaces the Hon. Justice Gregory Garde, who retired in March and will continue to serve as a reserve judge.
