Applications for the Victorian Bar’s 2025 Diversity Internship program are now open.

The Supreme Court will host law students later this year as part of the program.

Victorian law students from culturally and racially marginalised backgrounds are eligible to apply. The program focuses on fostering cultural diversity in the legal profession.

Students will have hands-on experience, and insights, into the work of counsel, judges and tribunal members.

Successful applicants will spend:

  • a week with a barrister at the Victorian Bar
  • a week with a judicial mentor at a participating jurisdiction
  • and a second week at another jurisdiction.

Students who complete a week at the Supreme Court will work in chambers. They will assist associates with setting up courtrooms for hearings, opening and closing the Court, and preparing orders for authentication.

Also participating in the program are:

  • the Federal Court of Australia
  • the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
  • the County Court of Victoria
  • and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).

Applications close Friday, 18 July 2025.

Future opportunities will be promoted on the Court’s website.
