These template orders contain standard directions usually made on the first return of proceedings in the Judicial Review and Appeals List.

Templates are provided for the four most common types of proceeding:

  • Application for judicial review under Order 56 of the Supreme Court (General Civil Procedure) Rules 2015.
  • Appeal on a question of law from the civil jurisdiction of the Magistrates' Court under s 109 of the Magistrates' Court Act 1989.
  • Appeal on a question of law from the criminal jurisdiction of the Magistrates' Court under s 272 of the Criminal Procedure Act 2009
  • Application for leave to appeal on a question of law from VCAT under s 148 of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act 1998

The directions should be adapted as appropriate and should be used as a guide to formulating directions orders for other types of proceedings in the List.
