The next generation of lawyers have been given a first-hand insight into their potential Supreme Court careers at the Law Institute of Victoria’s Legal Career Pathways event.

The next generation of lawyers have been given a first-hand insight into their potential Supreme Court careers at the Law Institute of Victoria’s Legal Career Pathways event.

Commercial Court Judicial Services Coordinator Sarah Newland attended the event on 28 April, representing the Courts Group alongside County Court Judicial Services Coordinator Benjamin Spurr.

Ms Newland and Mr Spurr spoke to attendees, including those stepping into the profession for the first time and those looking to further an existing career, about the work of the Court and various career opportunities.

Ms Newland said the event was a fantastic opportunity for the Supreme Court of Victoria and the County Court of Victoria to join and share knowledge of associate positions with soon-to-be graduates and other curious legal professionals.

“The Law Institute of Victoria went above and beyond in delivering an excellent evening that showcased the diverse career pathways available within the legal profession,” Ms Newland said.

“It was a pleasure to attend the event with Ben and to speak personally with future lawyers about their careers.

“It was also wonderful to see the excellent reputation of the courts reflected in the strong interest and enthusiasm for associate positions.”

Aside from connecting with employers, attendees were able to kickstart their career with a free professional headshot.

Also at the event were representatives from Victorian Legal Services Board, Victoria Legal Aid, and the Department of Justice and Community Safety, as well as several law firms, not-for-profits, and other organisations.
