These affidavit templates may be used where information is needed about whether a person is suitable to be appointed administrator of a deceased estate.

Use these templates if information is needed about the suitability of a proposed administrator.

Examples of situations where this evidence may be required include:

  • a person who is not entitled to share in the estate seeks to be appointed administrator;
  • there are competing applications for administration;
  • the proposed administrator has been chosen by a beneficiary who is at least 12 years old but under 18 years of age to act on their behalf; or
  • the Probate Office has requested evidence about the suitability of a proposed administrator.

These templates help provide information about whether a proposed administrator is suitable to administer the estate.

The templates ask for information about matters such as:

  • honesty and trustworthiness; 
  • reliability;
  • financial responsibility;
  • organisational skills;
  • experience managing responsibilities; and
  • any other matters relevant to administering an estate.

This affidavit should be completed by a person seeking to be appointed administrator.

The affidavit allows the proposed administrator to provide information about their experience, responsibilities and personal circumstances relevant to administering the estate.

This affidavit should be completed by a person who knows the proposed administrator well and can provide information about their suitability to administer the estate.

The affidavit should be based on things the person personally saw, heard or experienced.
