The parties to the Kilmore East Kinglake Black Saturday bushfire class action agreed to settle on 15 July 2014, after more than 200 court sitting days before Justice J Forrest.
The application for the Court's approval of the Kilmore East Kinglake Black Saturday bushfire class action settlement was heard before Justice R Osborn on 24 and 25 November 2014. On 23 December 2014, his Honour approved the settlement.

Case schedule
This matter will be listed for a case management conference once related proceedings in the Federal Court have been finalised. The practitioners will advise the Court when the case management conference is required.

Since the terms of settlement were approved, the Court has held case management conferences on 15 April 2015, 19 June 2015, 20 October 2015, 31 March 2016, 21 June 2016, 19 September 2016, 14 November 2016, 30 November 2016 and 30 January 2017 supervise the settlement distribution process.
